IUGS
In October 2022, the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) announced the world’s first 100 Geological Heritage Sites on Zumaia Beach. These are exceptional geological features that have given rise to new ideas, important discoveries and crucial debates in the geological sciences.
More than 25 international organisations representing all disciplines within geology endorsed the “Zumaia Declaration”.
